TEANA Embarks on its Fifth-Year of Best in Class Practices
Celebrating its 5th Anniversary, TEANA makes plans to continue its mission to serve the expedited transportation market through Best Service Practices and Cooperative Competition

Philadelphia PA-November 4, 2008—As TEANA, The Expedite Alliance of North America, celebrates its 5th Anniversary, this group of leading expedited ground providers plans to take the Alliance to the next level.

Founded in 2003, TEANA school board TEANA is the only organization representing providers of expedited trucking in the North American market. TEANA is the voice of expediters within government and regulatory organizations. Membership in TEANA also symbolizes a commitment to quality and to a code of ethics.

TEANA members, comprised of expediters varying in size and geographic scope, work in the spirit of cooperative competition to improve the state of expedited transportation within the general transportation market segment. TEANA members also share resources and experiences to develop Best Service Practices, enhancing service performance and capacity to shippers and 3PLs. Customers who select a TEANA member as their expedited provider can be certain they will receive a Best in Class performer.

As TEANA enters its 6th year, plans are in the works to improve the value of membership. These plans include a focus on enhancing educational tracks, providing a stronger voice in the regulatory environment, further defining Best Service Practices and creating greater visibility of the value of TEANA providers to shippers and 3 PLS. TEANA President, Mark McLochlin adds “Not every company qualifies for TEANA membership. Only companies that commit to maintaining the highest service standards and who adhere to the TEANA code of ethics will carry TEANA membership status. We are excited to share our many success stories and look forward to demonstrating the benefits of TEANA to the transportation marketplace.

Upcoming Change to Roadside Violations

Comprehensive Safety Analysis (CSA) 2010 These changes will have a significant effect on all motor carriers & operators Please take the time to learn more about CSA 2010 at: csa2010.fmcsa.dot.gov/

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is rolling out a new operational model with the CSA 2010 Initiative. The goal of CSA 2010 is to create a more efficient and effective way to reduce the number of commercial motor vehicle crashes in the trucking industry.

CSA 2010 will directly affect every motor carrier Beginning in 2010, ALL roadside violations (not just out of service violations) will be assessed against the carrier and in the future, the operator.

Violations received at the roadside inspection will be placed into 7 categories of behavior that have been shown to cause crashes. These behavior categories will be monitored on a federal and state level. If a specific category for carrier (and eventually the operator) reaches a set threshold sanctions will apply including fines, inability to haul hazardous material, and ultimately (in the future) declaring the carrier unfit.

Violations a carrier receives from a roadside inspection will be assessed against the carrier for 24 months. Violations an operator receives at a roadside inspection will follow that operator for 36 months, regardless of which carrier the operator is with. Performance at the roadside inspections becomes a part of the carrier's "report card" and the operator's "report card", tracking behavior which may lead to the cause of a crash and initiate sanctions. Prior to qualification, Motor Carriers will be able to view operator roadside inspection history. CSA 2010 is schedule for national implementation July 2010.
